Dr. Mrs. Onikepo Akande CON, attended Queen’s School, Ede (now Queen’s School, Ibadan) from 1958-1962 for her secondary education and served as the School Prefect in her final year. Dr Onikepo Akande later attended the University of North London from 1965-1968, where she studied Accountancy. She did her postgraduate program at the prestigious Harvard Business School, Boston, USA, and was the Chairman of the International Group in Boston. She also attended a management development course at Oxford University, United Kingdom, and an Advance Management Course at International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland. She has Doctorate (Hon. Causa) in Business Administration from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. She is an Alumnus of Insead Business School in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Dr. Onikepo Akande has served and still serving on several Boards, including the National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria, the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank (NIDB) now Bank of Industry, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Chairman of NEPAD Business Group Nigeria (New Partnership for Africa’s Development) and Group Chairman, Emerging Africa Capital Limited. She equally served as the President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and honorary life Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA). She was also a delegate at the 2014 National Conference and a member of Nigeria Vision 2010 and Vision 2020. Member of the Board of Trustee of President Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) 2016 to Date, Member of the Board of Trustees of West Midlands Open University, Member of the Board of Trustees of Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo Delta State, International Consultant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNIFEM and UNIDO, President, Pan Africa organization for Women Recognition, Fellow of the Institute of Directors, amongst many others. She is a renowned author who has several publications to her credit. Dr. Onikepo Akande was awarded the African Federation of Women Entrepreneur Award and held the title “Iyalaje Iyalode of Ibadan land,” a traditional chieftaincy position in her homeland. Other notable positions she has held include Director of PZ Cussons Foundation, 2008 to date and the First Female President of Harvard Business School Association of Nigeria, 2010 to 2012, and Chairman of Oyo State Education Trust Fund from 2017 to 2019, among many others. She is happily married to Chief Adebayo Akande, MFR, a Solicitor, the promoter of West Midlands Open University, and Chairman of Splash FM 105.5 and Lagelu FM 96.7.
