Abeokuta Grammar School (ABEOGRAMS) recently hosted a transformative Computer Appreciation class, stemming from a baseline assessment conducted for its students. Organized by the project team of the DEFINED Initiative, the class took place on the 25th and 26th of July, 2024, fulfilling a promise made to the students.

Over the course of two days, more than 70 students from both junior and secondary classes participated in the training. The curriculum was meticulously crafted to cover four essential sessions: Getting Started with Computers, File Management and Basic Software, Internet Basics and Productivity Software, and Enhancing Learning and Everyday Life with Computers.

Each session was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of computer usage. Students learned to identify computer components, manage files, navigate the internet, and utilize productivity software. The hands-on approach allowed every student to work directly on a computer, marking a first-time experience for many.

The enthusiasm and engagement were palpable throughout the sessions. By the end of the training, students expressed their readiness to participate actively in the Byte Busters coding club, which will resume in the next academic session. This eagerness marks a significant milestone in the students' digital literacy journey, paving the way for a future of technological proficiency and innovation.
